Privacy at a glance

  • Your shows, movies, watch progress, collections, and preferences are stored in the app on your device.
  • Catalog searches, metadata, schedules, artwork, and community feedback use PopcornCue's online services.
  • We do not sell personal data. This website does not use advertising or marketing analytics cookies.
  • Information you choose to submit through feedback, bug-reporting, or support tools is used to respond and improve PopcornCue.

1. Who We Are

PopcornCue ("PopcornCue," "the app," "we," "our," or "us") is provided by KD incubator UG (Haftungsbeschränkt). For the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), KD incubator UG (Haftungsbeschränkt) is the controller responsible for the processing described in this Privacy Policy.

2. Scope of This Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data when you use the PopcornCue iOS app, visit this website, use catalog or feedback features, view the product roadmap, send a bug report, or contact us. Services operated by Apple and other providers are also subject to their own terms and privacy practices.

3. Data Stored in the App

Depending on how you use PopcornCue, the app may store:

  • shows and movies you follow, save, watch, or rewatch;
  • episode progress, watch dates, ratings, reactions, and watch methods;
  • favorite characters, performers, and custom collections;
  • notification preferences and other app settings;
  • viewing history and ratings imported from a supported archive; and
  • catalog metadata needed to display your library.

This library is stored in the app's protected local database on your device. PopcornCue does not upload the complete library to CloudKit or to our servers. Device and iCloud backups are controlled by Apple and your device settings; deleting the app may not remove copies retained in those backups.

4. Catalog, Search, Schedules, and Artwork

PopcornCue connects to our online services to search and discover titles, retrieve show, movie, episode, cast, character, schedule, and availability metadata, and load artwork. Requests may include a search query, catalog identifiers, imported third-party identifiers used to find matching titles, and the minimum request data required to return the feature.

Like most online services, our infrastructure may process IP address, request time, requested endpoint, app version, device or network signals, response status, and similar technical information. We use it to deliver results, maintain reliability, diagnose errors, enforce reasonable usage limits, and prevent abuse.

5. Ratings and Community Feedback

When you rate an episode or movie, PopcornCue may send the rating and any reactions, watch method, or favorite performer or character you selected to our service. The submission includes the relevant PopcornCue catalog identifier and a random installation identifier stored in your device's Keychain. It does not include your complete viewing library.

We use these submissions to save and aggregate community feedback, operate the feature, limit abuse, troubleshoot problems, and improve the product. The installation identifier is not designed to identify you by name, but it may be personal data under applicable law because it can distinguish one installation from another.

6. Imports and Notifications

Supported TV Time archives are read and parsed on your device. PopcornCue uses the imported history to build your local library and may send title identifiers to our catalog service to retrieve matching metadata. We do not receive the archive file itself.

If you enable episode reminders, PopcornCue schedules them through iOS on your device. Notification preferences stay in the local app database and can be changed in PopcornCue or in iOS settings.

7. Product Feedback, Bug Reports, and Roadmap

PopcornCue uses Northlight to provide in-app feedback, bug-reporting, and roadmap tools. If you choose to use them, the service may process the message, contact details, screenshots, votes, and attachments you submit, together with technical app and device information included with a bug report. We use this data to respond, investigate issues, understand feature requests, and improve PopcornCue.

If you contact us by email, we process your email address, message, and attachments for the same purposes and to maintain appropriate business records. Please do not send sensitive information that is not needed for your request.

8. Website Data

When you visit this website, the hosting infrastructure may process basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, requested URL, access time, referrer, and server logs. This information is used to deliver and secure the website, diagnose technical problems, and maintain the service.

The current PopcornCue website does not use advertising trackers, marketing analytics, session recordings, or analytics cookies. It does not receive the library stored in the app.

9. Apple Services

Apple distributes the app and may process device, App Store, diagnostic, and purchase information under Apple's own policies. If PopcornCue offers paid features in the future, payments will be handled by Apple through the App Store. We will not receive your full payment card or billing details, although the app may receive entitlement information needed to unlock or restore a purchase.

10. Legal Bases Under GDPR

Where GDPR applies, we process personal data on these legal bases:

  • Contract performance: to provide app, catalog, feedback, support, and related features you request.
  • Legitimate interests: to secure and improve PopcornCue, prevent abuse, aggregate product feedback, fix bugs, and communicate with users.
  • Consent: where required for optional notifications, attachments, or other optional processing.
  • Legal obligations: to comply with applicable tax, accounting, consumer-protection, and other legal requirements.

11. Sharing Data With Service Providers

We do not sell personal data. We may make data available only as needed to operate PopcornCue, comply with law, or protect our rights. Relevant recipients may include:

  • Apple, for app distribution and operating-system features;
  • catalog, metadata, and image providers, to return title information;
  • infrastructure, database, hosting, and security providers, to operate the app's online services and website;
  • Northlight and email providers, for feedback, bug reports, roadmap, and support communications; and
  • authorities, courts, professional advisers, or other parties where legally required or necessary to establish or defend legal claims.

Providers process information under their own legally defined roles or under instructions and safeguards appropriate to their service.

12. International Transfers

Some providers may process information outside your country. Where GDPR applies and personal data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, we rely on a valid transfer mechanism such as an adequacy decision, Standard Contractual Clauses, contractual safeguards, or another lawful basis.

13. Retention

Data in the local app database remains until you remove it, reset the library, or delete the app, subject to copies in device or iCloud backups. Online request and security records are retained only as long as needed to operate, secure, debug, and improve the service or to meet legal requirements. Ratings, feedback, bug reports, roadmap activity, and support communications are kept as long as reasonably needed to operate those features, respond, maintain business records, resolve disputes, and improve PopcornCue.

14. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection to certain processing of personal data. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing.

To exercise a right, email office@kdincubator.com. We may need to verify your request. You may also lodge a complaint with a competent data-protection authority, especially in the EU member state where you live, work, or believe an infringement occurred.

15. Children

PopcornCue is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us so we can take appropriate steps.

16. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the personal data we process. No app, device, website, or online service can be guaranteed completely secure. You can help by keeping iOS and PopcornCue updated, protecting your device and Apple ID, and reviewing your backup settings.

17. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when PopcornCue, its providers, or legal requirements change. The updated version will be posted here with a new date. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you through the app or website.
